Portola Jr./Sr. High School
"Home of the Tigers"
A Message from Mrs. Sheridan
Summer break is officially upon us! I hope that all of our students and families are able to find the time to relax and unwind.
I know that there are many questions about what the next school year is going to look like, in terms of both academics and athletics. I want to assure our school community that the PJSHS staff is working hard to create a safe, yet rigorous schedule for our students. As soon as we have all of the details in place, Aeries Communication will be sent out to inform parents and students of our plans for the fall.
We are also working closely with our district leadership team and local health department to determine plans for fall sports. In the meantime, I want to encourage student-athletes to get their sports physicals completed (please see the flyer below for dates and locations).
As we move into the summer months, we are continuing to make improvements around our campus - classrooms are receiving makeovers, boys and girls team rooms are being created, dugouts are being built and a new paving job is set to begin soon. Our school is looking better than ever!
While it seems that each day brings new information and challenges, I want our community to know that we are committed to providing the best and most well-rounded school experience for our students. No matter what challenge or obstacle is put in our way, our students will receive the very best we have to offer.
The office at PJSHS will be closed from July 1st-August 3rd for summer break. If you have questions or concerns during this time, please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Sheridan at ssheridan@pcoe.k12.ca.us.
I hope you all have a wonderful summer break and I look forward to seeing you in the fall!

#blacklivesmatter
While we have been focused this week on ending this school year and preparing for 20-21, we would be remiss to not discuss the unrest that is going on across our nation with the #BlackLivesMatter movement. Think about the conversations that would be happening in classrooms if we were in our physical schools and the important role we play as educators in providing space for students to have conversations and learn about the experiences of others. While we aren't able to do this, there are a number of resources that have been put out for all of us to listen, learn, and grow. If you'd like to contribute resources, articles, or thoughts to this, please add to this shared Google Doc. Additionally, here is a place to start from EducationWeek:

Above and Beyond
Each week, we like to acknowledge staff members and supporters who go above and beyond their call of duty for PJSHS. Please help us appreciate Mr. Sheridan for advocating as our Athletic Director to prepare for Fall sports. Mr. Sheridan has been an integral part of preparing the boy's locker room for re-construction!
