Superintendent Update
Caldwell Parish Schools
Greetings Team Caldwell!
Spring is finally here, and I know that we are all excited about the warmer temperatures, extra hour of daylight and the beauty that springtime brings us. I also know it's a challenging time in the school year as you continue working hard in your classrooms to cover necessary content before testing. And for many of you, I know your days don't end when the bell rings! Every afternoon is packed with spring sports and events to keep everyone busy. Personally I love this time of this, but this year is extra special after all that we've been through. I finally feel like life is becoming a little bit more normal.
Thank you for pressing on during this difficult year. I hope you know how much I appreciate all you do for our students. They are blessed to have you in their corner! Just remember...we are 3/4 of the way through! I know that you're all tired, but the final stretch is here. Let's finish strong!

Our School Culture Matters and So Does Your Voice!
As we begin planning for the 2021-22 school year and beyond, I'd like to ask for your input. Please take this very short survey to help share our future direction and priorities. Please respond thoughtfully and candidly by Friday, April 2nd.
As a part of the LDOE Strong Systems Initiative, we have retained the Achievement Network (ANET) to read and synthesize the survey results. Your responses will be reviewed by the ANET team, but will remain anonymous to the district leaders. Your contributions to the survey are greatly valued.

Technology Tips for Teachers
Technology Update
As part of our expected allotment of ESSER II monies, we are planning to upgrade the interactive touchscreen boards in classrooms throughout the district. We have tasked a committee of leaders and teachers who are currently attending demonstrations and evaluating several brands before we make a decision. Our plan is to give each classroom the most up-to-date and user-friendly boards possible. Read more about this in the Technology Update.

Social Emotional Tips for Teachers & Staff
The Importance of Gratitude in Time of COVID
Daylight Saving Time (DST) is here, which means we lost an hour of sleep but, in exchange, are gaining more hours of daylight. Some research suggests that those extra hours of sun can improve our moods. Having more light later allows people to engage in more leisure activities after work than beforehand. Whether walking, jogging, golfing, working in the yard, or simply enjoying time on the patio with family and friends, there is more daylight during which to do so. DST coincides with the onset of spring, when more birds start to appear, flowers begin to bloom, and green growth returns to plants and trees. For sports enthusiasts, spring is an exciting time as baseball and softball seasons start while the NBA and NHL seasons culminate in the playoffs. Of course, there is also the arrival of “March Madness”, the Masters, as well as the NFL draft.
While the past year has been extraordinarily difficult, it is important to note that things are improving. COVID-19 numbers are declining, Governor Edwards moved Louisiana into “Phase 3”, and teachers and staff are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine. Keep in mind, there are always things for which to be grateful. Here is an excellent article about the importance of gratitude: The Importance of Gratitude in Time of COVID
