We will provide a copy to each student next week, but please work with your child to fill out the details of their schedule, so you know where to go for each class period! Notes from your HBMS Receptionist:
Welcome back, Buccaneers! I want to share some helpful tips with you all as we get back into the rhythm of school.
If you need to speak with your student's grade level Counselor, Assistant Principal, or the Principal, you must schedule an appointment in advance. Please email them directly to set up a call or appointment.

You do not need to notify the front office in advance if you plan on picking up your student early from school. Just come to the main office with your ID and we will be happy to check out your student anytime before 3:40pm. Additionally, please understand that when checking your student in or out, it could take anywhere from 5-10 minutes, ESPECIALLY on Holiday weekends. I am not permitted to call students into the office to wait for a parent to pick them up, so please take this into consideration when planning your day.
If your student loses their ID badge, replacements are $5 (if they need badge& accessories the cost is $10). Students can come to the office during passing periods or Go Time to get their new badge printed.
Finally, if your student forgets an item and you bring it to school, it is the student’s responsibility to come to the office to pick it up. We cannot disrupt classes with notes for item pick-up. Items can be placed on the shelves in the front office with your student’s name on them and can be picked up during passing periods.
Thank you for your partnership,
Jami Yaeger (receptionist)
Gifted and Talented Screening Referral Period Now Open!
The fall nomination window to have your child screened for the LTISD Discovery (Gifted & Talented) Program is currently open. Please review the GT Information Slideshow if you are interested in having your child evaluated for the program, as it addresses the most commonly asked questions about the screening process.
The deadline for nominations is Thursday, October 19th, 2023. You can find the nomination and permission google form here as well as on the district GT website. Once you complete the referral and permission form, your student will be signed up for the screening, and you will receive further information from your GT Coordinator once the dates are set and finalized.
If your child is a recent transfer student, has documentation of being identified as gifted and talented from another district, and is interested in retesting for entry into the HBMS Discovery GT classes, please reach out to Mrs. Reininger as soon as possible to expedite class entry.
If you have further questions, please reach out to the campus GT Coordinator, Laura Reininger at reiningerl@ltisdschools.org.
Entering Student Absences
We are excited to announce a new way to report future student absences for our secondary campuses. Parents can now enter future absences into Skyward Family Access. This short video will provide you with instructions on how to enter an absence for your child. Once you log into Skyward Family Access, select the “Attendance” tile to enter an absence.
Documentation such as doctors notes for absences should be uploaded through Skyward. To do this, please log into Skyward Family Access and select the tile labeled “Attendance Documents Upload”. This form will allow you to upload supporting documentation for absences.
Any absences or early release requests submitted for the same day will be accepted prior to 2:00 pm through Skyward. Students will not be released after 3:40 pm until dismissal at 4:10 pm. All supporting documentation must be received within 3 days after the student returns to school.
Please email hbmsattendance@ltisdschools.org with any questions or information regarding your student's absences.
**You will still need to come into the building to check your student out for an appointment.**
