Social Studies/Class adoption
A good friend of mine who used to teach in LISD recently moved to Kenya, Africa to teach at a very poor school called Naomi’s Village. This school was opened a few years ago by an American couple who wanted to help provide children with an opportunity to get out of poverty by obtaining an education.
I have decided that this year I will be sponsoring a little boy for our class! What does this mean? This means your child will have the opportunity to learn more about what education looks like in other places of the world. We will write him letters, send him goodies, and may even have the opportunity to Skype with him at school!
I am super excited for this and hope you are too! I'll let the learners know about all of this on Monday. Our little boy is in Kindergarten himself and his name is Julius! His photo is on the left :)
Super Important!!! Monthly Oral Presentations
At the end of each month, your child will be doing a very short oral presentation in front of their peers in our classroom.
TUESDAY you will have a bright pink paper in the folder discussing the September Oral Presentation. I will send a separate email Tuesday outlining what these will look like in our classroom and how you can help your child at home.
Please be sure to look at this paper carefully and let me know if you should have any questions!!
