Perkiomen Valley Athletics
Week of March 15
Winter Sports are wrapping up and Spring Sports are right around the corner.
It is very hard to believe, but winter sports seasons are actually winding down and with the end of any season, we celebrate the accomplishments of our teams, athletes, and coaches. Unfortunately, our boys' basketball season came to an end Friday night when we lost to an excellent Garnet Valley team. Congratulation to our boys' team for their great season. I also wanted to congratulate and thank Coach Kinkead and her cheer squad for the great job they did all season.
Additional congratulations are in order for our wrestling program, Coach Thomas and his staff, and Kelly Kakos for qualifying to the State Wrestling Tournament at Hershey this weekend. Kelly became the first wrestler to earn a state medal for Perkiomen Valley in 44 years! Kelly gained valuable experience over the weekend as he captured 8th place in Hershey.
Speaking of the state tournament, Coach Zackowski and Jacob Replogle have punched their ticket to compete in the swimming state tournament Saturday, March 20 at Cumberland Valley High School. Jacob finished second in the 200 free and set a new school record with his first place finish in the 500 freestyle. Good luck to Jacob this weekend!
Lastly, I wanted to give everyone an update on spring sports. The original start date for spring tryouts and practices was March 8. The Pioneer Athletic Conference voted to postpone the start of spring sports to Monday, March 22. If you are a spring athlete, please remember to go to http://www.planeths.com and complete the necessary paperwork to participate in spring sports. We ask you complete all of your necessary paperwork by Monday, March 15 in order to be able to participate. Failure to do so will result in your inability to tryout for the team. If you competed in a fall or winter sport, you only need to complete section 7 and section 10 of the CIPPE form.
Sincerely,
Robert L. Felty Jr.
