Egg Harbor Township High School
Week of February 27, 2022
A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
Greetings,
It’s been a short but productive week here at the High School. Students had a half day of school on Thursday and Friday while teachers had in-service scheduled for the afternoons. As of Monday, March 7, all masks in school will be optional. Reminder for all that next week, March 11 was originally a full day in-service for teachers, but is now a half day for students. Teachers will remain for the afternoon in-service. This will be the make up day for students for the last snow day that we had in February.
As of Monday March 7, all masks in school will be optional. Masks on buses will also be optional. Therefore, we will all respect the rights of all students and teachers and understand that some people will continue to wear masks and that’s ok.
Our PACE students went to the New Jersey Manufacturing Exploration Program (NJMEP) on Monday 2/28 for hands-on experiences and presentations.
On Friday. March 4, the Academy of Business and Law (ALAB) held their 6th annual “Business Discovery Day". They have invited career professionals from the area of law and business to the Academy to speak. A supreme court judge was the keynote speaker, Judge Dorothy Garrabrant.
Our Boys Track and Field had two students with awesome performances at the State track meet. Ahmad Fogg won the long jump and set a school record. He also took 3rd in the pole jump! Malachi Wesley placed second and had a national qualifying time of 7.64. Congratulations to both athletes!
Our Boys Basketball team continues to amaze us! They won both Monday and Wednesday in the NJSIAA tournament and traveled on Friday to Lenape High School! Best of luck to them as they continue on route to a championship!
Until next week, have a wonderful weekend! Stay safe, be well, continue to dream of the possibilities ahead of us, be happy and smile at someone!
Ms. Connor

This group of friends have been coming to the library during their lunch since the beginning of the year. They have always been cheerful and enthusiastic and are a pleasure to have in the library. Recently, they have been participating in the Unified Basketball Team and love to share with us how much they love the experience. They encouraged us to all come out and support the team during the game last week. This week, after the game in OC, they took great pride in telling us about the win!

COMMUNITY PRIDE
Student Assistance Program and Resources
The High School has adopted a new bullying-prevention program for this school year!
#DAY1--a staff and student-led philosophy that will serve to foster a building-wide atmosphere of kindness and inclusion.
This program was started a few years ago in Bergen County by the Tyler Clementi Foundation and has gained momentum throughout the state and country for use in schools, community groups, workplaces, and sports teams. We even have 3 of our own students who were selected by the foundation as leaders for this initiative!
The premise is simple: the adults in the building make a “declaration statement” about behavior that is expected, as well as behavior that is unacceptable, and we all pledge to conduct ourselves accordingly. This includes seeking help when we witness unacceptable behavior occurring.
This notion is called being an #Upstander.
Has your student taken their #Upstander Pledge yet?!?
Have them sign into their school account and click here! 😊
