The Student Council Special
Quarter 3
A Word from Miss Manzo
We have successfully made it through the third quarter! Only one more to go! We've had a lot of fun things going on here at Ridge-Brook to keep us busy. Please encourage your students to keep following the three R's every day at school and earning those Dolphin Dollars! We have many exciting things to look forward to as the year comes to a close.
I hope you enjoy reading the articles put together by the Student Council members. They work hard and do a great job! Feel free to email me if there's anything else you'd like to see included in the final newsletter: manzoc@parmacityschools.org.
Thank you! Go Dolphins! :)

Spring Book Fair
The spring book fair took place from February 9th-February 17th. There were a bunch of shelves with cool books and a rack with toys. You could get Dog Man, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, Goosebumps, and way more. There was a circle of suckers and if you pulled a sucker with a color at the bottom of the stick, you got a prize. Items costed between $1 and $20. We always look forward to seeing all of the awesome things that the book fair has to offer!

Donuts with Grownups
Donuts with Grownups was a fun event in which you could bring your favorite grownup and enjoy some delicious donuts with them. The event took place on February 13th, 15th, and 17th. There were a big variety of donuts, from chocolate to powdered. There were also drinks such as Sunny D, coffee, and water. Student Council members had the opportunity to help out, which we loved, of course.

Jungle Terry Assembly
The Jungle Terry Assembly was an assembly where we saw and learned about different kinds of animals. Jungle Terry asked us questions about each animal and if a student could answer it correctly, he had you come up in front of everybody and hold the animal. There were many animals, such as a chinchilla, ferret, little turtles, a tortoise, snakes, a dove, and a spider. You could see that the chinchilla was REALLY soft. Jungle Terry also showed us how flexible ferrets are. There was even a turtle race and the girl turtle won! Jungle Terry let everyone come up and touch this huge tortoise’s shell. On our way out of the assembly, everyone was allowed to feel a snake, as well. It was so much fun and very interesting!

Mrs. Hovan Named Educator of the Year!
Our very own Ridge-Brook kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Hovan, was named Educator of the Year! The award is so well deserved and we are so proud of her! Superintendent Dr. Smialek and PEA President Sue Messinger stopped by to surprise Mrs. Hovan with her certificate. To celebrate, all RB staff and students lined the hallways to clap for Mrs. Hovan and her special accomplishment. Congratulations!!!

How to Catch a Leprechan in Kindergarten
As part of a S.T.E.M extension activity to a Writing activity we did on "How to Catch a Leprechaun," my kindergartners were challenged to build leprechaun traps in hopes of catching a leprechaun. They had to ASK, IMAGINE, PLAN, CREATE, and IMPROVE their traps. Here are the traps they created! Stay tuned to find out if we ended up catching a leprechaun!!
