We Are A.R.M.Y. Strong!!

Each day, we say the Continental Creed: "As a member of the Continental Army, I promise to be Accountable, Respectful, Motivated to Learn, and do mY best." We also remind students of our school goal of achieving a letter grade of a B in three years or less....Students will hear us say "Are you helping us get to a B in 3?" If we all focus on being ARMY Strong every day, we will reach this goal!

Book Fair This Week

The book fair will be open Monday - Thursday during library hours. Please help support Washington Middle School by making purchases this week. This is also a great opportunity to support your child's reading interest. If you have any questions as to what is available, please contact the front office.

Spelling Bee

We will be hosting our student spelling bee this week. Last year the city champion, Reese Perry, represented the area in Washington DC. We want to wish all of our student participants good luck.

Only one more week of retakes

Please make sure you remind students to retake any assessment that is not at a 3. Students only have two more weeks to complete retakes, so please double check RDS and encourage students to stay on top of things before the end of the semester. We're seeing much more responsibility out of students across the board this quarter! I'm looking forward to recognizing those students who have brought their grades up. It's already looking like 80% of our students have improved scores this quarter! Keep it up, Continentals!

Cold Weather Items

As the weather gets colder, please remind students to bring a solid color jacket, sweater, or sweatshirt. That means no logos, stripes, etc. It must be a solid color and not have a hood. Students may also wear a solid color long-sleeved t-shirt under their polo or colored shirt. Our classrooms do get chilly, so they will need to have something to throw on. If you need a cold weather item, please see Mrs. Miller. If you have extras or items you're cleaning out, please consider sending those to us for others.

Students have the opportunity to spend those points for different items at the Base Exchange. Students will be able to order items from the base exchange by going to the Washington website (http://www.edlinesites.net/pages/EVSC_WashingtonMS) and using the Google form to submit their request. New WMS Grading Policy

http://www.edlinesites.net/pages/EVSC_WashingtonMS/Departments___Programs/WMS_Grading_Policy

If you couldn't attend one of the eight parent meetings on our new grading policy last week, you can find the details of the new system at this link. At any time, you can calculate your child's grade in a class by dividing the number of 3's or 3+'s by the total number of assessments entered into the gradebook. Please know that students can apply to retake any assessments by working to learn the material and applying to the teacher. If you have additional questions, please contact Mr. Merriwether, Ms. Branson or Mrs. Shields.
