For Students Entering Grades K-5 at Wolcott in the Fall

Dear Wolcott Families,

To help maintain and improve their reading skills, all students entering grades K-5 at Wolcott for the 2021-22 school year are asked to read over the summer and complete a summer reading tally of the total number of books read. We would like families to complete this form online through the West Hartford Public Library. Just fill it out by August 27th with the total books read. No going back and filling out a form over and over! Find the form here:

If you are unable to use the website, please use the paper reading log attached with your child. Return the summer reading paper form to your teacher in the fall.

Visit the West Hartford Public Library for all your summer reading and event needs. They have great outdoor programs happening all summer long! Check out all the details on their website and click on Children and Summer Reading or head here:

Please see bottom of this flyer for middle school summer reading information.

Fill this out if you can so you don't have to bring the paper log in to school.

2021 Middle School Summer Reading Overview

All West Hartford Middle School students are expected to read at least one book for pleasure during the summer and share their reading when they return to school. They might consider recording their book(s) in some form.

The WHPS library media specialists and the West Hartford Public Library teen librarian have many literacy-based activities to engage and inspire throughout the summer. Explore the scene on the Summer Reading website to participate!

Prizes will be awarded to randomly selected students who Get Caught Reading or Record Flipgrid Booktalks. There will be other contests announced through the library Google Classrooms. There are also a few “prize opportunity” ‘Easter Egg’ activities included on the website.
