Eagle Academy Weekly Update
Week of October 24, 2021
We've had a busy October
October 4th through the 8th we celebrated the Week of Respect. a "We Are Eagle" discussion took place around adjectives that describe our school. Our counselor Mrs. Russo led students in the "Ultimate Bullying Quiz." WE had a presentation from Planned Parenthood about Healthy Relationships.
October 18th throught the 20th we observed Safe Schools Week. Multiple PSA's were sent out and a Moral Dilemma Symposiun was conducted.
Red Ribbon Week was October 23rd through the 30th. Students were encouraged to take the "healthy life pledge." The Terry Kennedy story was shown and students were provided with a list of resources.
And it's Halloween too. We painted pumpkins, dressed up and ate candy. It's starting to feel normal!

Walking it off
Many students at Eagle Academy choose to do a fitness walk during their PE class instead of traditional sports. When the weather is good and the students are able to get outside 5 days, they are walking at least 3 miles, and some as many as 5+ miles, total for the week. This is such a positive activity for a number of reasons. Here's a great article on the benefits of walking. Are you getting 3-5 miles of walking in each week?
Red Ribbon Week
This year, Red Ribbon Week was acknowledged from October 22-31. We celebrate Red Ribbon Week to affirm the commitment to live a healthy life, and to educate and provide support to those seeking or maintaining a commitment to being drug-free.
Some of the students at Eagle Academy contributed to the endeavor by signing their pledge to make better choices, wore red to honor those who make positive strides everyday, and kicked it up a notch in costumes to show how much of a NIGHTMARE drugs can be. 🙂
