Cottonwood Creek Monday Memo
August 24th-28th
Greetings, CCE!
Teachers are RESILIENT! This last week has been a testament to that and CCE teachers and staff have shown that they have what it takes to be ready for students! Think about what you have learned (or got a refresher about) since August 6th:
Planbook
Gradebook/Skyward/Attendance
Google Meets (and everything that comes with that!)
TouchScreens
Planning for Remote Learning
Curriculum Updates
Google Meets Schedule Expectations
Planning for Virtual Instruction and Scheduling
Team Building with your Grade Level Team
Health and Safety at School
Meeting your students and parents
Meet the Teacher
Try saying all that in a one breath! Whew!
Through all the things that each of you has had to learn and take in quickly, EACH of you has shown the dedication and the resiliency that comes with teaching! You have already overcome the big things to learn about this school year! This memo celebrates you, CCE!
Shout Out to:
PK/K/ECSE- Working with your teams to set up and stage your live productions! Those have been amazing to watch! Setting up expectations and then practicing and modeling those!
Sped/FA- Working to support teachers and students with whatever they need, even if that meant redoing schedules more than just a few times! Dropping off bags for students at home and personalizing instruction is amazing!
1st- Using this first week to complete assessments on students and knowing next steps with kids! I've already heard how this group is planning for groups and using data to do that!
2nd- Learning how to get the most out of technology to make teaching engaging and getting supplies organized for student supply pick up!
3rd- Working collaboratively to blend virtual schedule times among pod teachers and then supporting students with special programs alongside sped teams!
4th- Maximizing time with students during live sessions, building relationships, and planning as a team to share the weight of the task!
5th- Working to support each other, technology fix-arounds, keeping positive even when there is no electricity, and making students and families feel welcome!
Office Teams/Support Teams- Being the 50 million things that I need you to be any day of the week! Including customer service, to grocery shoppers, to data clerk, to tech support, organizers, to schedule building!
Thank you to each of you for being a BIG part of this TEAM! Stay positive, avoid negativity, shine and shine on! You've got this! Thank you, CCE, for being the best!

Important Message from Dr. Marquez~
Getting Ready: Screeners & Assessments
Below (ButtonLink) is information the district needs for you to SHARE with your students and parents on how this screener will be accomplished at home. With the district extending our returning date to Sept. 14th, we will no longer be able to do it at school.
All elementary instructional coaches are working on creating google slide presentations for parents and students informing them how important the screeners are and how their information helps guide your instruction. We will share those by this Wednesday so that you can add it as an assignment in your google classroom and SeeSaw for K.
Please begin to share this important information with your parents in your weekly newsletters! Thank you!
BASE Team: Supporting Behavior with our Students
Message from our Base Team/Mr. Althoff~
Thank you teachers for working so hard, the BASE team took this week to observe and monitor student behaviors to find out where and when we are needed in your virtual lessons. We have already begun joining live sessions and have had one on one sessions with those students who have shown disruptive behaviors. This will continue next week and we will begin our social skills lessons! Yay!
All students will receive their "inclusion time" with the BASE team when we are watching the live instruction that our students participate in. We watching for on/off task behaviors and whether students are adhering to classroom expectations. When we see constant disruptions or off task behaviors, we will meet with students one on one to discuss the matter.
If you have BASE students, please let us know how you would like us to intervene on live meetings if it is needed. Currently, our options are:
1. Teacher will intervene by giving warnings to students and if behavior continues, teacher will log student off manually and follow-up with a phone call to parent. BASE will inform students that if they are logged off by the teacher, they are to immediately log onto the BASE google classroom meeting link to discuss what has happened in class.
*Teachers- please notify the BASE team and we will get on the link to discuss with students if we are not on your live lesson when that happens.
2. BASE staff intervening during Live Lessons, but tell us how would you like this to look for your classroom?
only through the chat box. BASE staff will private message the specific student(s), reminding them to remain on task
OR
BASE staff will excuse for interrupting the live meeting (1 time) and ask the class to follow classroom expectations. **The BASE teacher speaking live will be the sign to BASE students that they are expected to get back on task, stop what they are doing, etc. If the student continues, then teacher will log them off and they will log on to BASE GC.
3. BASE staff ONLY meets with students after the session. Teacher will then let the student know that they have a meeting with one of the BASE teachers (please only use our names). **This would require teachers to reach out to BASE staff immediately so that we know a student is waiting to meet with one of us after their live meeting.
We will be sharing our schedule for social skills support, please let us know if anything needs to change.
Thank you for all that you do to help support our students. Please know that we are here to help students and teachers in any way we can. If you have any other ideas, please feel free to reach out.
