Student Drop-off "Thank you"
Thank you to all who drop off students in the morning. Last week I asked that we not stop on the crosswalk right in front of the door. Most of us have made that adjustment and drop-off is much better. We are now able to get students across more safely. A few drivers are forgetting and stopping on the crosswalk. I have asked the students who are dropped off to help us remember.
Thank you again.

First Grade Christmas Spirit
The Christmas spirit completely arrived in Miss McKee's classroom. We decorated our Christmas tree, and everyone got to put on an ornament. When we finished, we closed the blinds and turned off the lights to enjoy it's beauty. They clapped and cheered for the tree. Enjoy the excitement and joy of children at Christmas time every chance you get!!

SLS Faculty Giving Tree
The SLS Faculty Giving Tree will be offered again this year for those interested in honoring our teachers and staff during the Christmas Season! The Tree will be ready for visitors on November 29, 2016.
Here is how it works.
OPTION 1 (The Tags)
1. The PTO asks each teacher to list some personal and school items that they would like to get. Teachers fill out a wish list.
2. NEW THIS YEAR: While some of the items from the wish list can be found on the bulletin board outside the Kindergarten rooms, most of the items are online at
www.SignUpGenius.com/go/4090A4EABA62DABF49-giving
3. Parents can either access the online list or stop by the bulletin board. The tags will be up until Christmas break.
OPTION 2 (You want to buy for many teachers)
This option is popular for those families that wish to honor several teachers. Using the attached form, select the teachers you would like to honor, and send it back to the office with any amount. This amount will be divided among the teachers that you select. Please make checks payable to "Batesville Chamber of Commerce", as the teachers will receive Batesville Bucks. (This is a change we made several years ago to greatly simplify the process!) Place the form and your check in an envelope marked “Giving Tree” and send to the school office by Friday, December 16th, 2016.
Of course, this program is optional. It is a great way to maximize your gift giving dollars. The teachers get exactly what they want and you save time!! It's a win win! Any questions on the Online Giving Tree, please contact Susan Harmeyer at jsjhzbb@frontier.com. Any questions on the Contribution form, please call Amy Tonges at 812-212-6702.
Thanks for participating in this year's giving tree!

Energy Kits
Greetings from the My Energy Kit Challenge!
So, here's an update!
So far, St Louis Catholic School has requested 119 Energy Kits and has saved 23,800 kWh of energy. December 31 Deadline: $2,500 Prize. Sign-ups have been pouring in online, through the mail, and on our phone hotline.
We're hoping that by the end of the school year, we will have saved 10 million kWh of energy together. Can we make it?
Thank you again for all of your energy-saving efforts.

Electronics Recycling Drive
‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the house
Not an electronic was stirring
Not an iPad, iPhone or mouse…..
As you prepare for the Holidays and trim your tree, please hold on to the items below with glee! A Recycling Drive will occur in early January to raise $1000. The students will vote to determine what to purchase for the school. Following is a list of items we will be collecting:
Cellphones - any Apple, Blackberry, Casio, HTC, LG, Motorola, Nokia or Samsung
Laptops - 2006 or newer, Apple and Windows versions
Tablets - Ipad 2 or newer, Samsung Galaxy (2006 or newer)
Please see the attached flyer for more details. Thank you for your help in making this "RECYCTRONICS" a success!
RAA Booked and Tentative Schedule for 2016/2017
The Bachnal Steel band is coming next Friday, December 16th. This program starts promptly at 1:30 for the entire school, and will take place in the Activity Room.
Lasermania - is tentatively scheduled for either Friday February 10 or 17th.....
Laser light show from Assembly Shows for Schools will present a show for our school. A typical laser show is about a 50:50 blend of entertainment and education. A show is about 40 minutes long.
We have laser equipment to fill an entire auditorium, cafeteria, or gym with laser beams. So this means you will have a complete laser show including graphics and "beam effects" whereby additional laser beams slice through the air to add dramatic Star-wars effects.
We will have a complete schedule of events at a later date.

St Louis 5th & 6th Grade Basketball Tournament Results--6th Grade
The St. Louis 6th grade Cardinals played at home on Saturday in the St. Louis tournament. The Cardinals faced St. Michael’s of Brookville in the first game and came away with a 32-13 victory. Stingy defense was the key to the win as St. Michael’s made only three buckets with the remainder of their points from the free throw line. Scoring was very balanced for St. Louis as ten different Cardinals managed to connect – Benjamin Harmeyer (8), Charlie Schebler (7), Alec Bunselmeier (3), Abe Hollins (2), Noah Tuveson (2), Frank Forbeck (2), Cy Muckerheide (2), Aidan Geers (2), Nate Vankirk (2) and Conner Ertel (2).
St. Louis faced Milan in the tournament final and won by a score of 27-20. The Cardinals went into the locker room at halftime with a 16-4 lead. Player rotation was a focal point during the second half as the entire roster saw action again. Scoring for the Cardinals in the championship game were Charlie Schebler (10), Benjamin Harmeyer (8), Noah Tuveson (4), Cy Muckerheide (2), Abe Hollins (2) and Conner Ertel (1).

St. Louis 7th grade boys basketball
The St. Louis 7th grade boys basketball team pulled out a nail biter on the road and won against a very good Laurel team Thursday December 1. The Yellowjackets have always done a great job of controlling the game on their home turf and this game was no different. The well coached team executed every possession on both sides of the ball as well as any team we've faced this year. Team focus and effort by the Cardinals and an outstanding game by Thomas Raver provided the slight edge needed for the the visiting team to get the victory. CJ Grote drained a beautiful 3 pointer to get the Cards off a scoring slump. The long defensive reach of Ryan Reder and an exhausting ""chase" defense by Cayden Pohlman led to reversing the momentum in favor of St. Louis.
Raver led all scorers for the contest followed by Cody Mohr. In total 7 of the 8 Cardinals made the scoring sheet. Abe Streator iced the game by hitting both ends of a 1 and 1 and a shutdown defense by Adam Vogelsang, Joseph Suttman, Thomas Raver and a block at the buzzer by Mohr to deny the final shot by Laurel made for one of the most exciting finishes of the season for the young Catholics!!
Thank you,
Jim Mohr

St. Louis Wins over Laurel
Game Summary:
The St. Louis Cardinals 8th grade travelled to Laurel to play the hometown Laurel Yellow Jackets. It turned out to be a well-played game by both teams. The Cardinals needed to play good defense in the first half as they had difficulty getting their shots to fall early which allowed the Yellow Jackets to manage a lead at half time by the score of 16-11. However, the Cardinals applied a little more defensive pressure in the second half and got back on track with their offense as Kurt Siefert and Riley Schebler hit several three point shots baskets to put St. Louis up 23-21 going into the fourth quarter. In the fourth quarter, the Cardinals managed to control the remainder of the game and went on to win 31-27.
The Cardinals had a balanced offensive attack as Kurt Siefert scored 10, Ben Schebler 7, Riley Schebler 8, Lleyton Ratcliffe 8, and Sam Voegele had 6. Defensively Voegele, Ratcliffe and Wil Freeland played well for St. Louis.
The Cardinals travel across town next week to play the Batesville Middle School on Tuesday December 6th.
Thanks.
Jim
St. Louis Victorious Over Batesville in Cross-Town Shootout
Game Summary
The St. Louis 8th grade travelled across town last night to play in the annual cross-town shootout against the host Batesville Bulldogs. It was a much anticipated game in front of a packed house as both schools were well supported by their fans. The Bulldogs came out and took an early lead as Calvin Sherwood knocked down a couple threes to start the game. However the Cardinals managed to fight back by going inside for their scoring and led the Bulldogs 12-8 at the end of the quarter. The second quarter was closely played by both teams until late in the quarter when St. Louis got a steal by Andrew Oesterling for an easy bucket. Then the Cardinals got another basket on an assist from Kurt Siefert to Wil Freeland as time was running out. St. Louis led 26-19 at intermission. The difference in the game came in the third quarter as St. Louis outscored Batesville 19-6. St. Louis maintained their lead in the fourth quarter and went on to win 61-34. St. Louis played outstanding defense against Batesville dominating the boards and not allowing Batesville with many second chance opportunities. The scoring for St. Louis consisted of Kurt Siefert with 4, Jack Forbeck 2, Lleyton Ratcliffe with 11, Wil Freeland 14, Sam Voegele 2, and Andrew Oesterling had a season high of 28 points. Batesville was led by R.J Powell with 12 and Calvin Sherwood had 10.
Also, it should be noted, that the St. Louis student cheering section was outstanding last night as they gave the boys tremendous energy throughout the entire game. The team was able to feed off the enthusiasm that was displayed by the GREAT Cardinal fans. So on behalf of the team, we would like to give a big Thank-You to our student fans last night. The team could not have played so well without you.
The next home game is 8th grade night against St. Lawrence on Monday December 12th.
Thanks
Jim Oesterling

Concerts That Support Catholic Education - The Perfect Christmas Gift!
We hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday with family and friends.
And now the Christmas season is in full bloom. We want to wish all of you a wonderful
Christmas season full of joy and blessings. My oldest son, Eric, is a second Lieutenant
in the Army and is getting deployed to Jordan after the first of the year. This Christmas
will definitely have special meaning for us as he serves our country overseas for the next
11 months.
Our family has been extremely blessed. Our next door neighbor is suffering from leukemia
and will be passing soon. We ask that you keep all of those who are ill and suffering in
your prayers this holiday season. It is easy to take for granted the gifts God has bestowed
on us - our family, our health, our job, the fact we live in the greatest country in the world.
Let’s remember that over the Christmas holiday and take some time to reflect.
I have attached some bulletin info below reminding people that the gift of music is a perfect
gift for family members and friends. We have 4 amazing shows coming up, all of which would
make the most discerning music critic happy. We wish you all the best throughout the Christmas
season. Thank you for your support of the Cincy Music Series - it is truly appreciated.
Warmest Regards,
Pete Ellerhorst President Cincy Music Series PO Box 11011 Cincinnati, Ohio 45211
