WYWLA WEEKLY UPDATE
SATURDAY, MARCH 28, 2020
Greetings!
We know that you and your daughter are trying to adjust to remote learning, and you may be overwhelmed by the tips and resources that are flooding your inbox. Here are a few simple tips to help:
Set realistic goals of what can be accomplished in a day
Create a routine and try to stick to it, but allow some flexibility
Don't hesitate to contact teachers when you have questions or concerns
- Stay informed. Check your email daily for updates from teachers and the district.
Again, we are here to support you and your daughter. Let us know how we can help.
Sincerely,
Principal CJB
Last Chance!
If your daughter needs technology to access remote instruction, and you have not completed the survey that was emailed a few days ago, please complete the survey as soon as possible. We hope to get devices to students by midweek. Do not complete this survey if your daughter has access to a computer and internet.

The Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award Program
It’s What You Do That Counts! Are you a young woman between the ages of 14 and 18 who volunteers in your community or school? Who sees challenges instead of obstacles? Hope instead of despair? If you are a young woman who believes in the power of volunteer action, then you may be eligible to win a Soroptimist Violet Richardson Award. The Violet Richardson Award recognizes young women who make the community and world a better place through volunteer efforts such as: fighting drugs, crime and violence; cleaning up the environment;and working to end discrimination and poverty. Volunteer actions that benefit women or girls are of particular interest.
Soroptimist is an organization of women whose members volunteer in their communities, often working on the same problems that you do. Although we realize that volunteering is its own reward, we also know it feels good to be recognized for your actions. And that’s why we sponsor this award.
Additional Notes to share:
- This is not a scholarship award but students must be in good academic standing
- The age range this year is different because of the date this is going out to students. The age range is girls 14 -18 we do want Seniors to apply even if they have already turned 18
- Questions and completed applications need to be sent to my email. Applications are due by midnight on May 8, 2020.
If you think you would make a good Violet Richardson Award candidate, please complete this application and tell us about your volunteer action. Send it to the local Soroptimist club listed on the application. Download the application below.

The Wake County Public School System will provide instructional resources and extension activities that will help students remain engaged in learning while schools are closed. These resources and opportunities will continue to evolve and grow over the course of any extended school closure.
No core instruction assignments, projects or activities will be assigned nor graded and assessed throughout the duration of the initial two-week school closure ending March 30 (with the exception of students who are already enrolled in for-credit learning through NCVPS, dual enrollment, early college courses, or other online platforms).
Early college students begin online instruction for SAU courses on Monday.
