Andrew Jackson Is A Hero
By: McKenzie Rodriguez Period 7
Reasons:
1."Jacksonian Democracy"- Jackson wanted to expand suffrage(right to vote) to all men, weather they were slaves, poor, or rich. Jackson also wanted to expand suffrage rights to the "common man".
2.Nullification Crisis- When Jackson nullified the Tariff of 1828 and Tariff of 1832 because the South did not want to pay the taxes for the imported goods that they relied heavily on. Jackson got the congress to accept the Force Bill which allowed President Jackson to go to South Carolina with an army. What resolved the nullification crisis was when Jackson accepted the 1833 Compromise Tariff.
3.Killing The National Bank- Jackson took down the National Bank which meant no more Tariffs or taxes for the people of the Union. Jackson took down the National Bank because he thought it was unconstitutional, and as any monopoly to powerful.
