Dear Loveland Families,
The Loveland community sets a wonderful example in partnering with the school to accomplish your student’s academic and social goals. We had nearly 100% parental attendance for the 1st quarter conferences. It is our commitment to be an equal partner in ensuring your student’s success.
If you have questions or concerns about your child, please contact us.

Loveland Halloween Update
Halloween is coming soon. It’s time to think about your costumes. For our school parade and party please wear only fun and friendly costumes. Fun and friendly excludes blood, gore, scary/frightening masks or clothing, and weapons. If anyone has questions concerning the appropriateness of a costume, please contact the office. Thank you for keeping things on the fun and light side!
Please do not have your child wear costumes to school. If your child's costume includes typical school-appropriate clothing or can be worn underneath, these are great options. Students will have time to change before the parade but need to do so with minimal assistance from teachers.
PARADE AND PARTIES
Due to safety protocols the decision has been made to not have parents attend our Halloween parties. We would like to encourage parents to attend our annual costume parade at 2PM on October 29th. Our kindergarten class will lead the parade and the students will parade around the Loveland playground track. If you are not able to attend the parade, we will record the event and post it in our weekly update email.
Fall Temperatures
The temperatures have been and will be going up and down for the next few weeks. Please make sure your child is wearing appropriate clothing in the morning. Sweatshirts, fleeces, and lightweight jackets are easy to keep in a backpack in case of cooler temperatures at recess time.
Please help support our Upcoming Food Drive
Read With Your Child
One way to encourage your child to read is to read with him/her for 15-20 minutes every day. Reading with your child helps him/her build fluency, comprehension and vocabulary, plus it gives you the opportunity to have special time together.
Thank You
Loveland teachers would like to thank Lisa Preston and her committee for providing the two wonderful dinners during parent/teacher conferences. The goodies and meals provided wonderful energy to carry us through our long conference days.

WE-SIDE FALL ART CONTESTS
Our popular and inspiring district contest is BACK for 2021! We invite ALL students and staff members to create a poem, drawing, photograph, sculpture, digital/electronic art, or painting using the theme of Belonging Builds Community.
We will be awarding prizes for different grade levels and buildings throughout the district, and your work could be featured on Westside websites, social media and in future publications!
All entries are due by November 16th at 4:00pm. Bring your art to school or email it to Dr. Lucas at lucas.mike@westside66.net.
WE-SIDE COMMUNITY DIALOGUES
We invite you to take part in our WE-SIDE Community Dialogues, with two opportunities to get involved depending on what works best for your schedule:
- Tuesday, November 2 at 6:00pm at Westside High School (auditorium)
- Monday, November 8 at 6:00pm at Westside High School (auditorium)
Come learn more about what WE-SIDE is, what our goals are, and help provide feedback through interactive table-talks on what you’d like to see us pursue as we move forward. Inclusive Communities will be joining us to facilitate discussions on social issues and strategies to create a better sense of belonging for all.
Snacks and water will be provided; several attendees will win gift cards each night! Please mark your calendar and bring a friend to come learn with us and share your experiences.
Reading In Kindergarten
Wednesday Dismissal
Every Wednesday we will end the school day at 3:00 pm instead of 3:30 pm. This gives our teachers throughout the District collaboration time by attending weekly professional learning communities. Please plan accordingly to pick your child up at 3PM.
WESTSIDE CABARET AT WHS
2022 Battle of the Books
Mark your calendars to join us for the 2022 Battle of the Books on March 19, 2022 at Westside Middle School! This annual Westside district tradition provides an opportunity for teams of 3-5 students in 4th-6th grade to participate in a quiz bowl-style competition where they answer questions based on content from the 2021-2022 Golden Sower nominees.
Please visit our FAQ or Rules pages for more information about the event. Registration will be in October. Happy reading!
