How to Teach Programming
This covers the big ideas behind all aspects of programming, and will give you guidance on the sorts of programming activities you should be planning. It is essential help with planning progression and coverage in your computer science strand of the Programme of Study.

Practical Classroom Activities for Teaching Information Technology
These are engaging activities which actively involve all children that require no special equipment. Activities cover hard to teach ideas required in the Information Technology Strand of the Programme of Study. They include
• How computers represent text and graphics
• Understanding files and file sizes
• How the internet works (specifically mentioned in the Programme of Study)
• Algorithmic thinking for sorting
All the activities come with resources you can use straight away.

Getting to Grips with Visual Programming
This follows on from the How to Teach Programming Course, and will give you a solid grounding in programming in a visual environment, together with many activities for use with your pupils.
The course will predominantly use the free software J2Code as this software runs on any computer or tablet. However the techniques and processes are transferable to any visual programming environment. e.g Scratch, the Hopscotch app for iPad and many others.
A selection of suitable apps will also be shown.
