From the Principal's Desk...
Dear Parents and Guardians,
The countdown is on for the St. John’s Spectacular: Together We Grow. As I type this, the parish center (gym) is being transformed into a majestical woodland. If you can’t attend, please consider signing up on GiveSmart in order to purchase raffle tickets, or bid on one of our fantastic silent auction items at stjohnschool3.givesmart.com. The committee has spent countless hours to make this night a huge success for our school, and I can’t wait to attend this Saturday night.
This week our school has been hit hard with a couple of different illnesses. Please refer to the parent letter that was sent home from Mrs. Greer, our School Nurse, for guidelines for when to keep your child(ren) home. Also, please encourage all children to get plenty of rest, drink plenty of liquids, and wash their hands regularly. All of these things will help keep kids healthy.
Have a great night!
Sincerely,
Courtney Weinheimer

Halloween
Ghostly greetings from St. John's!
Blue Jay Time
During weekly Blue Jay Time, the primary grades have been focusing on self love and learning how to find God’s purpose for each one of them, so that they can share their talents with others. As an extension to this time, the first graders were asked to think of what part of their body they love the most, and to share reasons why this body part is so special to them. They created this beautiful display to share. If you happen to be volunteering at school, be sure to check this out in person...the picture doesn't do it justice!
Halloween Potions
Halloween was in full force in the science lab on Monday! Junior high students explored different chemical reactions by mixing potions of witch tears, dragon drool, toad slime, liquified zombie brains, troll ear wax, werewolf saliva, invisibility serum and other Halloween concoctions. One special mixture even made a ghost appear!
Saint Projects
Eighth grade students visited Miss Witzgall's second graders on Wednesday to help them with their Saint projects.
St. John the Baptist
With All Saints Day being this week, Mrs. Unkrich took a moment to explain to her kindergarten students about our school's saint, St. John the Baptist.

Tony's Fight - November 19
Tony’s Fight Foundation is looking for students in grades 3-8 to play in their sixth annual youth 3v3 basketball fundraiser at LaSalle High School on November 19, 2022. This tournament began as a benefit supporting Tony Even and his family in March 2017. In October 2016 Tony was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma stage 3ES with Vanishing Bile Duct Syndrome, followed by a Renal Cell Carcinoma diagnoses in February 2017. In March 2017 friends and family rallied around them, hosting a 3v3 basketball tournament to show support and help with the medical expenses that come with a cancer diagnosis. After Tony’s test results were clear and Tony, his wife Beth, and their 4 children settled into their new normal, they decided they would like to pay it forward by continuing the tournament. Together with the help from the original tournament committee, they have officially become a 501(c)3 non-profit. Tony’s Fight Foundation was started to help families from west side catholic parishes who have children in area catholic schools with a family member fighting a life threatening illness.
If your student is interested in playing in the tournament, please see attached registration form and link to the eventbrite registration site…
