Who We Are

Who Are These People???

The History

The Refuge began as a vision in 1999 while on a mission trip in St. Vincent.

"Go back to Sunbury. Start a youth center in your town."

The Refuge Round 1 was located at 619 Race St. We operated for about 9 months in the basement of an old church. It was a crazy time and we learned so many lessons.

We closed down with every intention of reopening at "another time and another place."

The Refuge is now located at 821 Market St. We know have our own building.

Our Purpose

To provide a “Safe Place” for the youth of Central Pennsylvania by giving them a space to gather with friends while having fun, and being surrounded by positive staff and volunteers who want to invest in their lives.

Relational Ministry

All the staff at The Refuge are Christians. We believe in sharing Jesus with kids through relational ministry. We desire to get to know the kids who come to the center and learn about their lives. We let God lead the rest...
