Coding
Mrs. Sayre introduced us to coding. She explained how computers need to be programmed to do certain tasks. Each task in done step by step. The website she introduced the children to practice following steps is Botlogic.us
Coding
Mrs. Sayre had us use directions to show what it is like to be the computer that is programmed to do certain things.
Technology
Students then went to botlogic.us and practiced moving a robot around using direction arrows.
Science
Evergreen tree leaves are always green! That is what the author wanted us to know from our Scholastic News this week. We gave the children strips of green paper and had them design an evergreen tree making sure the larger strips were at the bottom and getting smaller as they worked their way to the top.
Reading
We are continually working on building our reading stamina. We are trying to read for 25 minutes without interruptions. Some days this can be a challenge for a first grader. Please keep practicing this skill at home.
Antlers
After reading Imogene's Antlers, we decided to make some reindeer with our own take on antlers.
Math
Give one, get one, is the structure we used during math. The students were given a math fact, and they had to give a fact family math fact to a friend.
Partner reading
We decided to mix up partner reading and read with someone in Mrs. Schulte's class. How did these two end up being partners?
Second Steps
Mrs. Ross came in and did a discussion on appropriate touches. The children learned that any touch that makes them uncomfortable then tell the person no and tell an adult that they trust.
Top Dog
Hailey was our Top Dog. She love cheetahs. Mac and cheese is her favorite food. She is pawsome at running and coloring. She wants to be a teacher when she grows up.
Mrs. Hall
I feel like Earl just did something naughty ....
