The map on the left shows the territories fighting and who had more power.
Muammar Gaddafi
(June 7, 1942-October 20, 2011) Not only the cause of the civil war, but ruler of Libya, Muammar Gaddafi ruled for over 40 years and caused major attacks on Libya, including the bombing of Pan Am flight 103. His killing ended the war in October of 2011.
Precursor Events
Events leading up to my civil war were Gaddafi being ruler for over 40 years, thus causing citizens to disagree with his way of ruling. One other cause is the blaming of Pan Am 103 bombing on Gaddafi. People were fed up of his ways and protested. I noticed that people protested against Gaddafi and split into two teams, Supporters and Rebels.
Leaders
Gaddafi and his trained troops fought against the anti-Gaddafi rebels. Gaddafi was put under attack and went into hiding where no one could find him or, kill him. His son said he would die a martyr, someone who dies for their beliefs.
Advantages?
So, who had the advantage in the war? Muammar Gaddafi was in military school at age 19, and trained troop to be able to win battles. While the rebels were untrained and hoping to win.
Technology
Gaddafi’s side had better resources and technology, only because their military leader was the leader of Libya. Because of this war taking place in 2011, troops used drones, cannons, guns and other modern weapons in battle. Gaddafi knew how to plan out attacks and how to plan for best result.
Alliances
An alliance made was a group of citizens becoming brave enough to face Gaddafi and his troops and protest. These alliances caused the civil war.
Social Movements
Social movements during Libya’s Civil War included the Libya Model. These are the unique ways of ruling in Libya after the murder of Gaddafi, including a new ruler taking over.
