Traders Point Breaks Ground!

The excitement in the air was palpable as more than 270 Traders Point Christian Schools students, staff and community members gathered on Sunday, May 15, to celebrate the groundbreaking for the new high school, laying the Foundation for the Future.

Fundraising efforts during the silent phase of the capital campaign have brought in $4.1M of the ultimate $7.5M goal. To keep the momentum going, campaign co-chairs Dave Tinkey and Suzanne Reed announced an end-of-school challenge to raise $400K in just 11 days, bringing the total raised to $4.5M.

Head of School Ron Evans outlined highlights of the plan to create a learning environment built around the best research that will prepare students to carry out the mission and vision. He announced a pledge from Traders Point Christian Church of a 1 to 2 match of donations up to $500,000. “They paved the way, both figuratively and literally for us to be able to plan this campus,” he said. “They also said they want to help others have the joy of learning to give generously to this important ministry.”

The ceremony featured special guests Indiana Governor Mike Pence and Whitestown Town Manager Dax Norton. Governor Pence spoke with gratitude for the strides TPCA is making to educate tomorrow’s leaders. “It’s amazing to think four decades ago what began as a nursery school would blossom into an elementary school in 1990, a middle school in 1999 and of course the foundation for this in 2008.”

Norton emphasized the positive impact this undertaking will have on the growth of the surrounding community. “We are the fastest growing community in the state, and we’re very prideful of that” he said. “We need to take a lead role… that means we need to take a lead role in educating our children. This product will assist with that.”

The students at TPCA are as passionate about this project as anyone. Senior Delaney Krueger spoke to the crowd about her 14-year tenure from pre-school to high school graduation and what it means to her. She highlighted many of the opportunities she was afforded through the years that she probably would not have had elsewhere. “I excelled in my challenging classes, not only because I memorized vocabulary words, but also because I had a library of memories to refer to that I gained outside the classroom,” she said.

And when others asked the million-dollar question, “Where are you going to high school?” the answer, for her, was easy. “I knew I wanted to stay with the teachers who raised me, the friends who encouraged me and the school that introduced me to Jesus. What makes Traders Point different? Just that.”

TPCC Announces Match Opportunity

Since we opened our doors, Traders Point Christian Church (TPCC) has consistently and significantly contributed to the growth and success of our school. They have come alongside us over the years to provide a major gift toward our current building, ongoing annual support, and the use of their land to expand His Kingdom. Their faithfulness persists. We are once again blessed beyond measure by the support and encouragement of the church with a $500,000 gift to our current capital campaign.

"The leadership of Traders Point Christian Church highly values Christian education,” says Chairman of TPCC Elder Team, Doug Felton. “We support the mission of Traders Point Christian Schools and are committed to helping the school achieve its vision of educating students and introducing them to Jesus Christ. One way to assist the achievement of this goal is to have a successful capital campaign project for the new high school. So to that end, and to encourage others to join us in this effort, we have made a $500,000 matching funds gift to the campaign that will enable your gift to have an even greater impact on the lives of TPCS’s students." - Doug Felton, chairman of TPCC Elder Team

“We couldn’t be more pleased with the leadership of the church and their decision to encourage our community to prayerfully consider a gift,” said TPCS Head of School Ron Evans. We are in the fastest growing area in Indiana and we are the only Christian school serving our community. If we don’t grow we can’t serve everyone. The time is now and it won’t be easy. We need to come together. We can’t do it without a broad base of support and generosity. We are asking everyone to please prayerfully consider rising to this challenge.”

Will you rise to the challenge and make a gift today?
