Harv's Happenings
Week of October 27 - October 31
Life Principle of the Week
“What is right is not always popular and what is popular is not always right.”
-Albert Einstein
The Week(s) in Review
Over the past few weeks we have been hard at work understanding the world of plants. Their parts, how they grow, and which ones specifically will be able to grow in the conditions we have in our school garden. The students have done a great job of researching, asking questions, and completing these books! They are chalked full of knowledge about soil types, parts of the plant, hardiness zones, and much much more!
In Social Studies, we looked at some of the earliest inhabitants of Texas with the Native Americans. The four tribes that had claim over the land that is now Texas were Comanches and Apaches, Karankawa, Caddoe, and Coahuiltecan. Those tribes encountered some of the earliest explorers of Texas when Cabeza de Vaca and other European explorers reached our continent. Those explorers laid the foundation for some of the first settlements in cities we now know today!
On Deck: Science & Social Studies
In Social Studies, we will finish our learning about Spanish settlements in Texas and move into some of the new colonies of Texas and those important figures of the 1800s.
