Tonga's extrodinary islands are near the continent of Australia. Tonga is composed of 176 islands that cover 270,000 miles of land. The country is called The Friendly Islands because of the warm welcome and the hospitality according to the Captain James Cook on his first visit on the island in 1773. Sports are very big in Tonga. The national sport is rugby which both men and women play. Women also like to play a sport called netball that is similar to basketball in the United states.
