What is Confucianism?
Confucianism is a system of beliefs currently used today in China. It's teachings of personal respect which includes respect for elders. Respect for elders is based on five relationships: father and son, husband and wife, elder and junior sibling, ruler and subject, and friend and friend. It also taught to respect your ancestors. It was not just duty to people but, also to society. You should show generosity, respect, as well as honor. If they didn't show these things their teacher's and elder's were blamed as bad role models.
Who made Confucianism?
Kong Fuzi lived from 551 to 479 B.C.E. He later became Confucius. Confucius lived during hard times in constant war. This made him sad. Confucius made rule and beliefs to make peace. He wrote about how to follow Confucianism like in: Chung Yung, Ta Hisueh, Meng Tzu, and the famous Analects.
Why was Confucianism made?
Confucius lived during hard times in China. He needed personal respect in all of China. He wanted The younger people to respect their ancestors and elders. Confucius wouldn't stop at just people. He wanted the government to follow his teachings too. Not only did Confucius teach his people personal respect, but also he gave his country prosperity. So Confucianism wasn't really a religion, but more of teachings for good government and personal respect.
When did Confucianism start?
Even though Confucius lived from 551 to 479 B.C., many rulers didn't follow his rule system until after he died. He lived during the Zhou Dynasty but, it wasn't until the Han Dynasty that it really started. So really Confucianism started in 206 B.C. and is still used today.
