Juliet: Character Connection
People should follow their heart and forget about enemies
Act 1 Scene 5
Juliet tells the nurse, "'Prodigious birth of love it is to me That I must love a loathed enemy'" ( Shakespeare p. 1018 lines 156-157). Juliet is talking to the nurse after she finds out the boy she loves, Romeo is a Montague. Then, she realizes she can't let her parents know because their parents are enemies and would never let them be together.
Act 2 Scene 5
The nurse is telling Juliet, "' There stays a husband to make you a wife'" ( Shakespeare p. 1040 lines 74-74). The nurse has told Juliet that Romeo is waiting for her, so they can get married. Now, Juliet has forgotten about the family enemies and married Romeo, she ended up following her heart.
Act 3 Scene 5
Juliet asks Romeo,"' Wilt thou be gone? It is not yet near day"' ( Shakespeare p.1062 lines 1-1). Juliet is trying to figure out where Romeo is going. Now that Romeo and Juliet are married and Juliet has forgotten about the enemies, her and Romeo have been spending time together. So, now she is wondering why he is leaving.
Act 4 Scene 1
Juliet is telling Paris, "' I will confess to you that I love him'" ( Shakespeare p. 1073 lines 26-26). Juliet is following her heart because she doesn't want to marry Paris, which her parents are forcing her to. Since, she loves Romeo she tells Paris the truth.
