Principal's News

We are happy to announce that we have hired a long term substitute nurse! Please welcome Nurse Kathy Carney to our building. Nurse Carney brings much experience to our health office as she is a retired school nurse and nurse leader from Duxbury Public Schools. We are extremely excited to have Nurse Carney join the MES family for the next several months. If you need to contact the health office via email, Nurse Carney's email address is kcarney@mpsd.org.

Library News

This week in the library we read "Library Mouse A Friend's Tale" written by Daniel Kirk. This picture-book follows Sam, a shy mouse living in a library, who writes his own stories. This story helped to enrich our discussions about friendship and working together.

Nurse's Corner

Welcome back to school! The nursing team looks forward to working closely with families and students this year to promote health and wellness. Not only is "your health your wealth", but it is also lucrative to a functioning body and mind. Parents, take a moment to reconnect with yourself in peace by practicing deep breathing, yoga, or doing something gentle and meditative for yourself (i.e. get outdoors, go for a walk, listen to relaxing music etc.) and be creative with providing opportunities for your children to do the same. Commit to both you and your child(ren) to getting proper rest, eating a nutritious diet and exercising to keep bodies strong, energized and refreshed.

What's Happening in the MES Health Office:

Health Records: Please be sure that your child's health / immunization record is up to date- by sending in the most recent copy of your child's physical exam. All students in Kindergarten and 4th grade are required to provide this documentation per state mandate.

Medications: If your child needs any medication during the school day (one that is either scheduled or on an as needed basis) please call the nursing office directly for specifics. It is not good practice to send medication to school with your child, as it could get lost or mishandled. All medications should be handed off by an adult- directly to the Nurse. All medications need to be properly labeled and must be accompanied with a Medication Authorization (Dr's order) from the prescribing MD, along with a Parent Consent- which can be found on the school's web site, located under Administration click on Health Services and scroll down to medication administration.

Please feel free at any time to contact the school nurse by phone 781-319-3985.

Annual Vision and Hearing Screenings will begin soon and we are looking forward to a great year!

VISITORS AND VOLUNTEERS

Every three years our parent/guardian CORI forms need to be updated in order to volunteer at school events. This year marks the beginning of a three year term, so every parent/guardian that would like to volunteer needs to complete a new form this year.

Please click here for the form and submit by bringing this to the front office with your license. You do have the option to have the form notarized and sent in with a copy of your license if you cannot come to school.
