Tree Planting and Tree Giveaway - Saturday, December 17th!
This is to remind you that TreeFolks is coming to Boone Elementary this Saturday. We are looking forward to good weather this time! Please feel free to share this information with your friends and neighbors.
Tree Planting in the Morning:
We're partnering with PARD's Urban Forestry folks to plant trees around the athletic fields in the morning from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. We are expecting some 100 volunteers to help us plant the trees that will provide shade and beauty to the students and neighbors of Boone.
Tree Giveaway in the Afternoon:
We'll be giving away 200 trees to Austin Energy customers from 12:00 PM - 3:00 PM. We'll be set up in front of the school, and we can help load the trees into cars.
Safety Alert
Morning and Afternoon Crossing at Eskew: Please use the crosswalk at Eskew and Croftwood Drive to cross the street to the school. It is very dangerous for adults and children to jaywalk across the street at the playground and we have had two near misses in the last week. Jaywalking occurs when a pedestrian crosses a roadway where regulations do not permit doing so. It is well worth the extra steps to avoid an accident and cross legally at the crosswalk. If you do not want to use the crosswalk, turn around and park the car on the playground side of the street and walk your student up the side walk to the fence opening. Your child’s safety is very important to us at Boone.
Winter STEM day on December 20th
Don't miss out by going on the Holiday break early. We are still in school both Monday, December 19th and Tuesday, December 20th. All classes are having Holiday parties on the 19th and the whole campus will enjoy a Mad Science presentation the morning of the 20th. The rest of Tuesday will be exciting as well with a variety of fun science and technology activities with a winter theme. Your child is sure to love it!
Counselor's Corner
Boone’s Career Days are Coming Soon!
Speakers Needed
We are hosting our third annual Career Days on Thursday, January 26 and Friday, January 27 at Boone Elementary School. One of our objectives at Boone, in addition to the district’s goal for college and career readiness, is to promote the importance of career planning. In order for our students to learn more about careers, we are inviting you to speak with our 3-5th graders about your career. If you are interested in presenting to a class or classes on either of these dates please email or Ms. Lozo. Nicole.lozo@austinisd.org 512-841-5376.
In addition to Career Days, PK-5 learn about jobs/careers, college, and individual interests in their classroom guidance lessons with the counselor.
