Muraski TEAM Memo
For the Week of September 17th
What a TEAM!
Only 4 (maybe 5) Things to do this week...
1. Your grade level TBT must have a TBT 5 step form started this week.
Here's the 5 step process form to follow.
3. Please fill out at least 1 All Star of the Day, so you know the procedure to keep submitting.
Once you have created, print and put in the green bucket, like we have done in the past for student of the day.
4. DOJO: Get things up and running with dojo and make sure Tina is invited to be part of your class as well. Here is a link to help you if you need some support. We have many in the building who are experts too. If you need some help, let me know.
5. K-3 Rank your Students for Title Services -Due Friday!!
--------------------------------------------
If you have received any volunteer forms back, please send to the office.
Fire/Tornado Signs: Please be sure that your fire drill/tornado drill signs are visibly posted in your rooms and up to date. If you need new signs please stop down in the office and pick up a set.
Publications: As the district is making an effort to reduce waist and unnecessary copies, we need to do the same. It is more cost efficient to get items copied from publications. If you have a copying job that is not needed within 3 days, please send over to publications. We were told the average turnover time is 1-2 days. Large amounts sent to Judy is monopolizing her time and is unable to keep up with her other responsibilities.
Copier/Printing Training: If you would like Stephen Breckner to come in one morning to help with any copier or printing questions, or to help show how to use your computer to set up 2-sided, stapling, etc. Let me know of your interest and we can get him in to conduct a training. Or if you already know how to do this, give me your name and I can put you on a list of “helpers” on the copier/printing.
Check Out a UDL Method that I saw from your colleague this week!
Empower students to select their own content and/or own assessments, based on standards, and encourage them to collaborate to add to the multiple options offered to challenge themselves and identify appropriate resources that connect to their interests and passions.

Nice work Antoinette!!
September 17th is Constitution Day
Remember requirement to observe Constitution Day
Each year, on Sept. 17, schools nationwide take part in observing the day in 1787 that the U.S. Constitution was signed. Educational institutions receiving federal funding must plan an education program celebrating Constitution Day. Below are organizations with links to resources for Constitution Day.
Chromebooks are Coming!
I've ordered 60 more chromebooks for the building!
They should be here soon!
Then, all classes Grade 3-5 will have their own set.
Check out this TEAMMATE of ours!

(Repeat items) Update on Library Time
Each classroom will begin our Tech Literacy Time, with Mrs. Beetler, starting the week of September 4th. All students will participate in Typing Club, Digital Citizenship modules, and makerspace activities.
During the time, teachers will design I/E time, and be able to pull students from their grade level, or class if needed for intervention. You will be able to work out a system that works for you and Laurie, once we get the tech program and makerspace up and running. Until then, please remain in the library to support both programs, student behavior, and the routine of adjusting to two programs going on at the same time.
Library Reading Time has become an event of the past. As much as we all love to have our students read to, we are moving more towards a UDL approach to reading. We will be moving forward, as a building, to reflect the UDL approach, which means there will not be "library reading time" this year.
However, if you would like to design a lesson, that has a UDL approach, you are welcome to invite Mrs. Beetler to be a part of it, and sign up for a time to come to the library to do so. (But, there will not be a whole class read-aloud book for classes this year.)
Teachers should be completing read alouds or shared reading within the classroom with their teachers who can guide the discussion and questions. Reading the same book to students for a 30 minute period does not align with UDL guidelines and the direction we are moving as a district. Students will appreciate choice in what they read and the ability to express their thoughts and ideas.
We can discuss more during our TBT/Staff meeting for clarification...or stop by and see Tina or Laurie.
Continued Reminders:
The 2017-18 Annual Report and 2018-19 plan are now public have been placed on the website.
