The Manning Weekly Update

October 29, 2021

Manning Community,

What an incredible week it was to be a Manning Mustang! We held our spirit week, along with Halloween dress-up day today. The costumes were great! Also, students had the chance to compete in a door decorating contest during access. Our students showed their incredible talents yet again in this annual competition. Finally, we had some of our students stay after school today to make 1000's origami paper cranes. This idea came from the story of Sadako Sasaki, a survivor of Hiroshima. "Sadako and the 1000 Paper Cranes" is a book based on a true story. Basically, the 1000 paper cranes represent optimism and peace. We know that the last 18 months have been a challenge for our kids, so this is just one more opportunity for them to connect as a community and do something symbolic and elevate the importance of peace in this world.

I also would like to thank the Manning PTA for all their support this week. Between the candy jar fundraiser and their special recognition of our students upon dismissal today, it reminds me how fortunate we are to have such an amazing and supportive PTA. We did meet as a PTA yesterday, and they are looking for additional parents to support some of our community engagement and student celebration ideas.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Better Together,

Christian Ramaker
