Thundering Herd
Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter

Message from the Principal
Hello parents,
We were back to the routine of school this week. Students are settling into their schedules learning many new things in each of their courses.
The one really notable thing to report out was our Herd Hotshots assemblies for Junior High. All students participated in grade-level wide meetings introducing the program. This will be a monthly celebration reserved for those students whose grades, attendance, and behavior are exemplary. Each month we review which students have a 75 or better in each class, have fewer than 1 absence/tardy, and have no office referrals; they are then invited to participate in the celebration. This kickoff assembly went extremely well and will hopefully provide incentive to all students to meet these standards!
Representatives from RCGC were on campus to help our seniors register for their second semester courses at the college. This type of partnership is so beneficial and an important transition piece from our 'college-going' culture to actual college attendance.
This was a short update, but head into your weekends knowing that our teachers are working hard each day to ensure that your child is having fun, being treated with love, and is being challenged on their academic level!
Keep Love Present,
Dr. Vivadelli

Downtown Window Painting
Students from the Art Club ventured downtown to paint Halloween decorations on storefront windows. Business owners on Broad St. were super appreciative. Our artists were excited to be able to share some of their talents with the community. It was an great experience for all who participated!
Mol Day Celebration in Chemistry
National Chemistry Week brought about a Mol Day celebration. AP students studied the oxidation-reduction reaction of glucose combustion and the emission spectrum of potassium. Honors and College Prep students applied their knowledge of the Law of Conservation of Matter and characteristics of physical & chemical properties & changes to explain the reaction. Basically they blew up Gummy Bears! See the picture below.
