Activities Newsletter
Week of May 12-16
Want to see what your child is doing in school?
This week we are continuing a five day program of theme week where the students will have a chance to have a time to practice their researching, interactive, and cognitive learning skills in the classroom.
This Weeks Topic
The week of May 12-16, the students are going to be given a topic that they will have to research and take notes on. They will then have to take the information they found and apply it to the topic, whether it is experimenting, writing, or building. This weeks topic is called: Do you have what it takes to save the world one water bottle at a time? We are going to focus on the world of recycling. Each day we will do a new activity that will direct the focus on recycling, how it effects the world, and how it can be increased.
Day by Day
Day 1, 2, 3
The first two days we will focus on research. The students will get to work on a laptop and research all the different aspects of recycling and the processes of how recycled objects are made. They will then get in groups of three. The students will make a powerpoint presentation on the information/videos that they found. They will also include a mini program that will help the increase of people recycle. On day three, each group will present their powerpoint to the class.
Day 4
On day four, we will go around the school on an adventure to collect all of the objects that can be recycled.
Day 5
On the last day of this workshop, we will put the students to their designing skills. They will have the opportunity to build an object (whatever they can possibly think of) out of recycled objects. This wills show the students how recycling is helping and how they make new things out of used things.
