The Stamp Act
The first event of the Revolutionary war was the Stamp Act. Parliament gathered ideas in 1765 and came up with the Stamp act. The Stamp act was where colonists had a stamp on all paper products. Also colonists were angry. So, Parliament ended stamp act in 1766.
The Boston Massacre
The next event was the Boston Massacre, but if you read along you'll find out why the battle was not a massacre. The citizens in Boston were extremely angry having soldiers in their city. So, in 1770, an angry group of colonists threw rocks and snowballs at the British soldiers. The soldiers were mad and fired onto the crowd. 5 men were killed, and 6 were wounded. Now do you know it wasn't a massacre?
The Boston Tea Party
In 1773the Sons Of Liberty disquised themselves to look like Native Americans. All of the Sons Of Liberty rowed out to 3 ships in the Boston Harbor and dumped tea off board in the water. This event was known for the Boston Tea Party.
Paul Revere's Midnight Ride
In 1775 a American named Paul Revere rode in the night waking up all of the colonists yelling, the British are coming! This became known as Paul Revere's Midnight Ride.
Battle of Lexington and Concord
The British soldiers would have to manage to pass Lexington to Concord. Captain John Parker said, "don't fire unless fired upon". A British commander marched to the colonists and told them to leave. John Parker knew he couldn't defeat such a large group. So Parker told his men to move around. When they were moving around someone fired. But, no one knows who shot the first shot. Then, eight Americans were killed and ten were wounded
Declaration Of Independence
On July 4th 1776, the Declaration Of Independence was written and signed. John Hancock's signature was the largest out of everyone else's. Thomas Jefferson wrote the Declaration. This is why we celebrate the 4th of July.
