Henry Purcell was born on September 10, 1659 in Westminster, England. He had 2 siblings named Edward and Daniel Purcell. Daniel Purcell was also a composer. Henry lived in a very musical family, as his father was an organist at the Chapel Royal.
Henry's adult years
Henry Purcell married Frances Peters, and together they had 6 children. Only two out of six of these children survived infancy, who also loved music. He spent 6 years writing religious music for the church. After 6 years of writing music for the church, he returned to writing music for the theater.Purcell then became an organist at the Chapel Royal.
