Attendance Reporting Update
Dear Lake Travis ISD Parents and Guardians
Regular attendance at school is essential to ensuring high levels of achievement for our students. As we enter the second nine-week grading period, you may notice new letters and notifications in Skyward Family Access. Soon we will begin sending attendance letters for students with excessive absences on a regular basis. Traditionally, these letters are sent when students have three (3), six (6) or nine (9) unexcused absences. Additional letters are sent to families when a student has missed 10% and 25% of an academic year with total combined excused and unexcused absences.
Sample attendance letters are pictured below:
Communication between school and home is critical. Therefore, should you need to update your communication preferences within Skyward Family Access, please follow the steps highlighted in the corresponding link: https://youtu.be/sVq7z3oG1aE
More information about attendance requirements can be found in school board policies FEC (LEGAL), FEC (LOCAL), and FED (LEGAL). We value our partnership with you and appreciate your attention to this matter as we work together to help our students succeed.
Sincerely,
Lizeth Thompson
Principal, LTE
Down below you can click on a document that will guide you step by step on how to check your student's report card.
SMARTtag, Not Just for Bus Riders
The SMARTtag system is the most efficient way to report your student absent and serves as a parent portal for communicating with your student's teacher, the nurse and office staff.
- Can be used for reporting absences, tardies, early dismissal for appointments and transportation changes. If a student leaves for an appointment, please include the pick up time and whether the student will return or not.
- If you need to notify the school how your student will get home in the afternoon, changes can be made in SMART tag before 2 PM.
- Lost or damaged SMART tags can be replaced in the LTE office.
If you need help registering for SMART tag you can call the school at 512.533.6300

5th grade students: Who is that Baby?
Please send in a physical baby photo of your student to school or email a digital copy to your homeroom parent. These photos will be placed in the yearbook for a fun page of guessing who’s who!
Volunteers at LTE
We look forward to continue having volunteers on campus! We will be able to welcome mentors through the LT Mentor program, and have several opportunities for parents to help us out. . We are also excited to announce that our high school PALS program will start again soon. PALS is a high school mentor program designed to connect high school students with a mentor and support for some of our LTE students.
If a teacher would like a parent to volunteer in the classroom, the teacher will FIRST reach out to parents and then contact an administrator. Parents need to have principal approval to work inside classrooms. Parents will be asked to stay no more than 1 hr. inside a classroom. Volunteers can take projects home and/or use the Volunteer/PTA space located in room 118 if working outside the classroom.
Get Involved — Volunteer with the PTA in November & December!
Getting involved is a great way to show your kids that you take an interest in their education. It also sends a positive message that you consider school a worthwhile cause. When adults volunteer, all students benefit. There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved this holiday season . Your help is needed!
