Keeping the Crew up to Date! Volume 2 Issue 16 - 1/1/23

Greetings Clipper Nation!

Welcome to the 2023 portion of the school year. I hope you had a wonderful break!

Students currently enrolled in Algebra 1, English 10, Biology, or Government will be taking the Maryland Comprehensive Assessment the week of 1/9/23 through 1/12/23. Most students will be completing testing during their regular class times. Students who are testing will receive a testing ticket indicating the period(s) and location(s) where they will be completing their testing during that week. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the assistant principal, Ms. Dunn (adunn@wcboe.org).

We have been working to enhance the lunch experience for students at JMB. It started with adding an additional line during each lunch shift. This week we will begin to have students enter their lunch numbers as they go through the lunch line. Then on January 9th, we will start offering a la carte items. Students will have to pay for the a la carte items.

College Essay Support

We have good news for seniors who are working on their college essays! Through the Title IV grant, Ms. Cahall and Mrs. Taylor will be available to review your college essays and provide feedback starting on Monday, October 3rd – Saturday, December 31st.

Here’s how it works: You will need to email the teacher you would like to work with letting them know you would like for them to review your essay. They will then send you information so that you can upload your essay, the writing prompt or question that you are responding to along with any questions or comments about the essay you have sent them. The teacher will add you in an assignment on Google Classroom where all communication about your essay will occur.

Contact information for Participating Teachers:

Mrs. Chelsea Taylor: chtaylor@wcboe.org

Ms. Jennifer Cahall: jcahall@wcboe.org

Of course if there is another teacher you would like to have review your essays you are welcome to contact them, but Mrs. Taylor and Ms. Cahall are the teachers that are part of this project. They are looking forward to reading your essays and supporting you through this process!

How to Stay in the Know?

The best way to stay in the know is to make sure we have accurate information on file. Please look over all the information on the Student Personal Data and Enrollment Information Form as this is the information we currently have on file for you. Make any corrections to the form in blue. If you need additional space for emergency contact use a separate sheet of paper. Sign the back of the form and return it to the school. If you prefer to fill out a new form you can find a copy on our website.
