“EDUCATION IS THE MOST POWERFUL WEAPON WHICH YOU CAN USE TO CHANGE THE WORLD.” – NELSON MANDELA

July 30th, 2021

A message from me...

Good Afternoon!

In my "world" the date of August 1st is a significant date. It signifies the official start of athletics it is the unofficial countdown to the beginning of school. It also happens to be my wife's, Carrie, birthday! Over the course of my 22-year education and coaching career, I have not always been able to always properly celebrate with her. She is a phenomenal mom, nurse, and overall human. Oh, she also puts up with me! I am excited that her birthday is this weekend so we can celebrate properly. She deserves it!

I know many families have questions about what the return to school will look like for our students in terms of protocols. As you may have seen over the last few days central Ohio districts are beginning to share their plans for return. DCS is continuing to finalize our plan and it will be shared in the coming days. While I know that everyone just wants to know, it is truly a dynamic situation with information changing daily sometimes hourly. Please be patient and extend some grace as our district leaders work to develop a plan.

Once DCS shares our plan, we will discuss building-level impacts and keep you informed as best as possible. I will begin our Zoom parent meetings closer to the start of school so that we are able to share the most relevant and up-to-date information.

I am truly excited about the start of this school year. I am ready to welcome everyone back and feel the energy of our students. There is nothing like having our students in the building bringing it to life. We have been hard at work preparing so that all students feel welcome and at ease as we return.

Thank you for your help and support. Jerome is a special place of learning and community and we are going to have a great year!

Please enjoy your weekend and I will be seeing everyone real soon!

Mike
