Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 14th February 2020
A big Goodbye to Mrs Binks
Best wishes and love to Mrs Binks
Ofsted did get slightly in the way of our celebrations, however we did make sure that the whole school came together to say their goodbyes on Wednesday afternoon. We presented Mrs Binks with her 'Book of Binksy' which was full of beautiful pictures, memories, reflections and messages from every child that Mrs Binks has taught across the school.
Parents organised for Ripon City Band to play for Mrs Binks when she released her class for the last time. This was a really wonderful treat and a great surprise!
We were overwhelmed with the superb response to Mrs Binks' Tea Party. So many people came to say goodbye and thank you. There were numerous gifts and a film of some of the children saying what they think about Mrs Binks.
We are sure that Mrs Binks will enjoy her new post and we know the new school are very lucky to have such a caring, loving and committed teacher.
The Book of Binksy!
Parent Consultations
Thank you for your understanding about the need to postpone our parent consultations on Wednesday 12th February due to the Ofsted inspection, that we were notified about at the start of the week.
We have decided to reschedule these appointments so that they take place on the first week back, on Wednesday 26th February. Times originally allocated will apply, however if you are unable to attend the time given please do communicate with your child's class teacher. If there are changes needed for a specific class (eg Y5 on a school trip on Wednesday afternoon) then the class teacher will communicate with you to organise a suitable alternative time.
Thank you for your continued support and understanding.
Goodbye and good luck mrs Hart
Year 2 Survey and Experiment
As part of their work on transport, Year 2 did a 15 minute survey of the different types of transport near to school. They recorded their information in a tally chart and the following day the children created a pictogram of their results.
You may remember that we reported on the first stage of an experiment to check for the effects of sugary drinks on our teeth and having dirty hands when we eat. A few weeks later and the children were shocked to see how the eggs (representing the enamel of teeth) were dissolved, with orange juice being the worst! The bread had also gone mouldy if handled by dirty hands. A lesson for us all!
Science experiments in Year 5 too!
OFSTED Inspection
Can I take this opportunity to thank staff, parents and children for providing their feedback during the inspection. The inspector considered all the responses to questionnaires, discussions and comments raised during the inspection to help explore how the school is performing.
May I also take this chance to thank the children who were fantastic (as always) and the staff at the school, who worked so hard over the course of the two days.
