I hope that you have all had a good start to the new year. This month we will begin a season of assessments that will help students measure growth and compare their educational progress with others in the state and in the nation. This year, our 8th graders will take the NAEP test, a national test in which schools are selected around the nation for this assessment. Our students will be assessed in Language Arts, Math and Science. The testing is done in one day. At the end of the month, our 6th grade students will be taking their language arts assessment in their scheduled language arts class, February 25th - 28th. To see the testing dates for your child, please visit our Hanby Webpage.
The end of our Wrestling and Girls Basketball seasons is coming quickly and I'd like to extend a big Thank You to the coaches of both sports for a successful season. Thank you to parents and fans this sports season; you have been a great example of good sportsmanship for our children. Thank you to our Athletic Director Drew Wilkerson, who will be putting on a two-day girls basketball tournament Feb 8th and 9th. It is a lot of work but also a great experience for our girls.
Next month, we will start the track season and I encourage the participation of all students!
Our Brain bowl team is also in season and has shown much growth this year. Thank you to Mr. Curry and our Brain Bowl participants.
Have a great month and we all look forward to some good weather!
