Special Olympics
Help change lives through the Joy of Sports
The Goal
Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, the mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. They strive to awaken the world to the precious abilities and dignities in every single human being; no one should be left out just because of their appearance or mental abilities. This year, as in recent years, the Irving police department is participating in the torch run that stretches across Texas to collect donations and raise awareness for the special Olympics program and those in it. With your help, we as Nimitz High School can take part in this humane cause.
