New Furniture
The new library soft seating furniture has arrived! Now there are lots of comfy seating nooks throughout the room with benches, stools/tables, and foam shapes to sit on and read. The full library renovation will hopefully begin this summer.
The new STEM Lab furniture has also arrived. With a classic science lab look, the lab tables will promote collaborative projects and the use of wet and hands-on materials. The new flooring is in, electrical installed in the floor, and the "Think Wall" is up and ready for student use. Still in progress is the install of the custom cabinetry for storage and the sinks, and the indoor/outdoor door connection.
Assembly Performance
McKinley students enjoyed a performance by the Korean Classical Music and Dance Company from The Music Center. The group performed ceremonial and social dances in the tradition of Korean culture. Thanks to your donations to the PTA, McKinley is able to bring such wonderful learning experiences to our students.
Shared Reading Book
McKinley teaches the six Pillars of Character. Each month one of the grade levels presents about that month's Pillar of Character. At the end of the month 4th grade will be presenting about this month's Pillar, Citizenship.
In addition, all classes TK-5 read the same book based on that month's Pillar of Character and that ties into our PRIDE Philosophy and focus on diversity and inclusivity. This month's Schoolwide Shared Reading Book is Last Stop on Market Street by Matt De La Pena. This award-winning modern classic is an inclusive ode to kindness, empathy, gratitude, and finding joy in unexpected places, and celebrates the special bond between a curious young boy and his loving grandmother.

Last Chance to Sign-up for the Talent Show
The deadline to sign up for the Talent Show is today by 6pm. Late Permission Slips will not be accepted as we start to plan and organize the show.
Students are invited to show off their talent in dancing, singing, playing an instrument, acting, magic, gymnastics and more! Students who don't have an act, may sign-up to be in the Opening Act which will be choreographed by McKinley teachers. All acts have a time limit of 1.5 minutes, and students may be in 1 act only, so that everyone has a chance to shine. Attendance at all three rehearsals is required in order to participate. Save the date for the show on November 18th at 6pm in the Auditorium!
