SAINT MARY MAGDALEN SCHOOL SECURES $110,000 GRANT FOR 1:1 CHROMEBOOK INITIATIVE

Tutoring America, a national foundation, recently awarded SMMS with funding to purchase several hundred laptops, specifically Chromebooks.

The organization awarded SMMS the six-figure funding based on the substantial academic gains students made through SuccessMaker this year.

Tutoring America and SMMS are confident that students can build on, and even accelerate, these gains through this 1:1 Chromebook Initiative.

Most importantly, this initiative will advance SMMS's mission by empowering students and faculty to think, learn and teach actively, critically and creatively, thereby better equipping them to reach the Maverick Goals of College & Heaven.

SMMS Goes One To One

Each student in grades K5 to 8th grade will have his or her own Chromebook, while children in Pre-K3 and Pre-K4 will share Chromebooks on a rotating basis. Therefore, technology will be seamlessly and authentically integrated into instruction and assessment.

The Maverick Educational Experience will be further enhanced by virtue of students being empowered with an array of learning tools at their fingertips. Also, teachers will be empowered with increased access to thorough, authentic, accurate and up-to-the-minute data on student performance, more diverse and student-centered resources, and tools to differentiate instruction and assessment.
