Scarborough's Summary
We will not be getting any additional staff from the displacement list, so I will begin interviewing qualified candidates for our additional ESOL and EIP positions.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend!

Inspiration for your week
Kudos Korner from the Admin Team
A big thank you to Ms. Clark, Mrs. Friedel, Mrs. Davis, and Mrs. Duncan for doing a great job when Mr. Hunter, our area superintendent, came to visit their classrooms. He saw evidence of journaling, small group instruction, differentiation, and collaborative and independent work. Great job ladies!
Media Center News
Book fair opens this week. You can send students to shop between 7:30-8:00 and after 9 am. We are closed during FLP instruction. Thank you!
Counselors' Corner
After viewing the Mandatory Reporter video, go to your PD&E, click on HR-Compliance 2015-16 to answer 5 questions. Remember your role is not to investigate a disclosure. Please don't wait until the end of the day to report.
Custodian Closet
Thank you for sending your conference schedules that will help especially since your class will be eating lunch in your room both Wednesday and Thursday. Unless it is a beautiful day and you choose to eat alfresco. If you do please bring your trash bag (which will be provided in your box lunch) tied up and place it by the flag pole that way it will not interfere with either bus call or car rider.
Remember trash bags are available in the teacher's workroom (where your mailbox is located) for your breakfast trash. During testing we have 20 minutes to collect all the breakfast trash, so having the bag tied and in the hall by 8:30 AM saves us. Also have your trash can in the hall by 1:30 PM help too!
Stack those classroom chairs each day to help staff vacuum underneath.

Journaling Journey
Journaling should be taking place daily.
Here are some ideas to get your students journaling about their math:
Have students copy down their math anchor charts as a reference.
Have them draw their math thinking with pictures and/or models.
Have them describe/list the steps to solve their math problem.
Have them construct a word problem for their math equations.
Have them discuss a strategy they liked best and why.
Have them explain why their math learning for that day is relevant to real-world experiences.
