STUDY HALL PERIOD
For the benefit of our students at CHS
Did You Know...
Almost 70% of the students who attend CHS have extracurricular activities that take up so much time of their lives. This creates stress and will result in compromised sleep.
Effects from Lack of Sleep
You, as an individual have so many responsibilities! Doing chores, watching your siblings, volunteering, participating in sports, having a social life. Now, there's homework added to the list! Not enough sleep, building up the stress!
An average teenager needs at least 10 hours of sleep. 10 hours!
When this is not accomplished, here's what happens:
-no concentration which results in lower grades in all classes
-YOUR HEALTH!!!!
Your body is one of the most delicate things in the world to play around with. When there is a lack of sleep and accumulation of stress, the mind and body are weak.
Our Body
Sleep deprivation effects the following systems: cardiovascular, endocrine, immune, and nervous systems. These further result in:
- Obesity in adults and children
- Diabetes and impaired glucose tolerance
- Cardiovascular disease and hypertension
- Anxiety symptoms
- Depressed mood
