Xello and Educational Development Plans
Mrs. Bazner (Wilk) joined the seventh Grade Career classes last week to help them begin their journey into Xello and career planning. All of our seventh grade students will have an opportunity to complete a variety of activities in the career exploration program Xello that will help guide them as they develop their initial educational development plan. The EDP is an integral part of our career counseling curriculum because students will return to it each year as they progress through school and it will help provide insight for them as they explore careers and begin to plan for the academies at the highschool level. If your child is currently enrolled in Careers please take a moment and have them share their Xello experience with you.
Mental Health Summit
Seven students from our Leadership class had the opportunity to participate in a virtual mental health summit with other high school and middle school students from across the state. The summit took place over two days and featured keynote speakers and a variety of breakout sessions. Students had the opportunity to participate in breakout sessions on topics such as mental health in a digital world, mental health in a changing society, and many other interactive topics. Olympic gold medal winner, Allison Schmidt, even hosted a session about her own experiences and how she was able to navigate through the challenges of the Olympics while being able to balance her own personal well-being. RMS students were able to share their experiences with each other and adults in the building. The conversations were rich and full of insight and provided ideas for initiatives for providing more awareness and understanding about mental health. It was an honor to be part of this student group and the counselors are very excited to continue to work with them to develop awareness. We will be meeting again October 20th to begin our planning process for monthly topics and activities. Pictured below are Charles Gilbert, Cameron Lukacs, Elliot Brown, Julia Sandoval, Amelia Polsinelli, Josephina Cutajar, and Mrs Venglar. Mrs. Bjorkstrand, Mrs. Skover, Mrs. Bazner(Wilk), and Mrs. Ebert also participated in the summit.
