Gratitude
"Gratitude turns what we have into enough and more." - Melody Beattie
Good Evening Spartan Families,
Quarter 2 is off to a great start in our classrooms and around our wonderful building. Coming off of some great Halloween fun, students have settled into their new Practical Arts classes, as well as their new indoor lunch set ups. With basketball season around the corner, musical performances to look forward to and some Ultimate Frisbee outside in the cool, fall air, we have a lot to be thankful for at Shepard.
Over the course of the last few weeks, with the help of our Student Council and PTSO, we have raised hundreds of dollars to support a local food pantry, collected over 700 pairs of socks for people in need and donated nearly 20 pounds of candy for those unable to celebrate over the weekend. As we head deeper into the month of November and inch closer to the Thanksgiving holiday, we are continuing our focus on being grateful for what we have and supporting those who may be going without this season. We hope you will continue to support our efforts by checking out our 109 Gives Back program and our Student Council poster on the items Shepard is collecting for the drive.
As you head into the weekend, take some time to reflect (as a family) on all the things you are thankful for. Need some extra inspiration? See below for an easy way to highlight your gratitude for the whole family to see.
Gratitude Tree Activity
Step 1 - Print Resources (if your ink is low, you can always use markers to draw a tree)
Step 2 - Cut out the leaves (or make your own pretty leaves)
Step 3 - On each leaf, write down someone or something you are thankful for
Step 4 - Hang your Gratitude Tree in a high traffic area so everyone can see
Have a safe and wonderful weekend!
