CWMS Online Learning Information
At this time, Canal Winchester Middle School is prepared to be flexible in how we provide instruction, monitor student learning and give feedback. Our teachers will use a combination of online resources and online assignments to continue instruction during the closure. The amount of online assignments will vary by class and grade level. Students in grades 6-8 are very familiar with using their Chromebooks for educational purposes and assignments.
The goal of online learning is to support essential/core educational opportunities for the grade level/class and to keep the necessary information moving forward to the furthest extent possible. Of course, online learning does not replace learning in the classroom.
A fair ratio of time spent learning at home will be a maximum of 30 minutes, 5 times a week per class. Teachers will reach out to students to communicate specific expectations. Please refer to the grade level and related arts sections of this newsletter for more information.

Additional Specifics & Clarifications:
1. This is a SAMPLE SCHEDULE.
2. This sample serves as a guide for how to follow your schedule and spend time studying and learning at home using the online learning format.
3. This schedule lists sample classes (both academic and related arts).
4. This sample is NOT a replacement for the schedule your student has followed all year prior to March 16th.
5. Spend no more than a maximum of 30 minutes learning / studying “per class”.
Daily student expectations for online learning are listed below. Teachers will be evaluating student work per class. At this time, teachers will be available by email throughout the online learning process. Middle School Staff Directory
We recommend providing expectations for your student as they participate in this new learning format and experience. At school, students get used to their days following a certain schedule. Communicating to your child that they will have a schedule to follow for the next several weeks will establish expectations to successfully prepare your student to get as much as they can educationally from online learning.
Daily Student Expectations:
I will check my online learning platforms after 8:30 am.
I will check assignments in each class.
I will organize my learning based upon the assigned lessons.
I will reach out to my teachers or peers if I have questions.
I will complete and submit my assignment by their due date. I will contact my teachers if I am unable to complete my work on-time.
I will take time to play outside, read a good book, or work on a personal project.
If you have any questions about your student’s work, using Google Classroom, or any of the assignments, we are asking that you first email your student’s teachers.
We Miss our CWMS Students!
Thank you,
Mrs. Zywczyk
