STAAR & Instructional Materials:
· Thank you all for your support during STAAR. We had lots of teachers supporting our 3rd and 4th grade students and your support is greatly appreciated.
· Please make sure to take down all butcher paper from the hallways and your classrooms if you have not done so from STAAR. We will have visitors on our campus Tuesday. Let’s get the our school looking like Whitley Road again.
EOY SITs:
· Information regarding this process will come out soon.
Texas Treasure , Write Source Textbooks & Worktexts :
· I will start collecting these items the week of the 23rd
. Please make sure to have your textbooks and any unused worktexts (Please don’t give any unused worktexts to your students. I need to collect the unused worktexts when I collect the Texas Treasure and Write Source textbooks) in a centralized location.Behaviors:
Student’s misbehaviors have escalated recently. Please make sure to actively monitor your students during transition periods. Many of the issues that occurred, occurred during transition times.
From Your Librarian...
The book fair will occur this week on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday and be open daily from 7:45-3:15. I am sorry, but I cannot offer any teacher credit this time because we do not make a profit from the sales. Since we had two regular fairs earlier in the year, this fair is considered a bonus allowing it all to be sold at a big discount.
Mrs. Evers will be here on Wednesday to speak to students by grade levels in the auditorium. Kinder is at 9, 1st Grade at 9:30, 3rd Grade at 10, and 2nd Grade at 10:30.
Technology items that have personally been checked out to you this year will be returned differently than we have done in the past.
If you will click on this link http://tinyurl.com/jdlrok7 it will take you to an editable google doc to sign up for a day and time that you will be ready to bring back everything that is on your technology check-out sheet. It’s the yellow paper that I put in your boxes about a week ago.
Any items that are missing as well as any drastic changes in the condition of an item that was loaned to you will be reported to Amy. May 23-27 is the week for all technology to be returned.
Region 11 received a ransomware virus on May 8. As luck would have it, the new database Destiny that the district is using this year to keep track of library materials is managed through Region 11. Although all student books were due last Friday, none of the books have been scanned back into the system because Destiny is down until further notice. They estimate 7-10 business days before it is fixed, but what has happened is a pretty major problem, so I’m not going to hold my breath that it will be working after that time frame.
As I try to organize the multitude of book stacks that have been returned, I have come across three books already that are wet and damaged, but I have no way of knowing at this time who it was that returned the books. So, there will be a delay in printing notices for books that still need to be returned from students, and books that need to be paid for because of damage. Please continue to have students return books.
A chart that Tracey and I have devised explaining where professional resources get turned in will be shared soon. At this time, please do not return any professional resources.
The Reading Bingo party will happen on Monday, May 23 at 9:30 in the auditorium. Please remind your students to wear their purple shirts!
I am hoping to place the next grade level’s red Reading Bingo cards in your boxes this week. Please send them home soon after getting them so they don’t get forgotten.
