Student Focused-World Class
Word from Holly...
This week in our Collaborative Planning Meetings, we will spend time at the beginning of our meeting to focus on the clarity of what is ahead for our students. It will be our priority to take time to clearly identify the focus of learning that we are planning for our students. What do we want students to know and be able to do? That's the most important thing we can plan for and it's the most important thing we can communicate to students. What is the end result? Do we communicate this clearly to our students? When we finish our unit of study, or week, or learning segment...what will students be expected to know and do that is more than what they were able to do before we did the teaching? What is our focus? It's easy to identify standards to cover, but what learning do those standards represent? Very simply, what do we want our students to be able to produce or to be able to do as a result of our teaching?
It sounds simple, but it's true. Sometimes, it's seemingly small things that make the biggest difference. Please take a minute to watch the short clip below.
YOU make the difference! Our students are lucky to have you!
Proud to be a Warrior,
Holly

ROSEMARY'S MEMORIAL FUND
JSMS will be sending a group donation to the memorial fund created in Rosemary's honor. Vicky Stoops will have an envelope and card in the office this week where you can contribute if you wish. We will also be putting a basket together for Rosemary's husband and daughters so stay tuned to find out how you can help in this way.
The family is asking that "in lieu of flowers" a donation be made to honor Rosemary. The fund will be used specifically within the main foundation to help all teachers, their spouses, or any member of their family should they be in need. The fund will also help any patient with any type of brain cancer. The establishment of this fund was very important to Rosemary, and the Smith family is honored that her name and this foundation will go on for many years helping others. Thank you ahead of time for your tax-deductible donation. Here is the link.

DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP ACTION TEAM
In order to improve our 1:1 technology initiative at Sevier, we will be forming an Technology Use Action Team to define a uniform “terms of use” for technology here at Sevier. We all know how consistent disciplinary action positively affects the culture of a classroom and school, and we want to create that same consistency with student computer use. Team members will meet to determine a uniform set of expectations for computer use at Sevier. Any teachers interested in serving on this action team should contact Mr. Roebke. We would like to have all grade levels including related arts represented on this team.
NEW TEACHER MEETING...
The informal meeting with your mentors this month and the observation you will do in your mentor's classroom will take the place of the monthly new teacher meeting that was scheduled for Monday, August 15.

Check Your Address in Skyward
The start of a new school year is a great time to make sure KCS has current address information on file. Please ask each employee to logon to Skyward, EMPLOYEE INFORMATION, PERSONAL INFORMATION, and ADDRESS to verify that information is up-to-date. Requests to change address or phone numbers can be made in Skyward. Why do all employees need to check on this? Because address information feeds multiple behind-the-scenes sites within KCS, it's important that it be correct in Skyward.
