Odds and Ends
5 days! We can do it! This is a crazy week. There will be no blue sheet for homework. Kids will have readers and math. No spelling this week! yeah!
The goal is to keep the week as normal as possible, but add in a lot of fun items as well.
Blankets - If you haven't sent in the $5 for the blankets yet, please do so as soon as possible. I went shopping last week when Joanns was having a 70% off sale on their fleece. I was able to get fleece for 33 blankets!
Monday afternoon, we will be in the MPR from 2:25 - 3:15ish to prep the blankets. I will have some scissors, but be sure to bring your own if you have a pair. Mrs. Walker has graciously opened up her classroom for kiddos while parents prep!
Tuesday, is our blanket making day. We have the MPR from 9:40-11:15. Kids will come into the gym right after recess at 9:53.
Thursday, we will be boarding the bus right after lunch and heading over to Cascade to deliver the blankets and some holiday cheer!
The kids are super excited about the project.
Friday - Is a minimum day with dismissal at 12:30. The kids decided they want breakfast yummies - donut holes/donuts, bagel and cream cheese, juice, hot chocolate, and fruit. Here is the sign up genius - https://www.signupgenius.com/go/409044FA5AF2FA20-holiday
The kids also voted to watch the animated Dr. Suess the Grinch which is rated PG. For info on the film check here (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2709692/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_5) Please let me know if you do not want your child to watch. An alternate activity will be provided for them.
Curriculum Update
READING - Our story last week as an informational text all about jelly fish. Kids learned that jelly fish do not have a brain and can only go up and down. This wr
Silent Reading - Kids are silently reading daily during class. Be sure to encourage reading at home. Listening to an audio book is just as good as reading the book. Listening to you read or an audio version the kid are hearing great fluency. When reading with kids be sure to ask a few questions along the way. ex/ Why did the character do that? Who is your favorite character?, etc.
WRITING - We are working on writing neatly on the lines. As well as working on capitals and punctuation. When your kiddo is working on their assignments at home please emphasize neatness!
LEXIA - Students are working hard on meeting their weekly unit goal for Lexia.
TECH - Last week we did hour of code. It was so much fun! Check out code.org to learn more about it.
PE - We continue to have PE on Wednesdays and Fridays. Please be sure that your child has appropriate shoes for running and jumping.
