The Zion Blaze
1 TIMOTHY 1:14
Nativity Play
Zion Lutheran School presents a nativity play featuring live actors from the 8th grade class and recorded Christmas carols performed by kindergarten through 7th grade. As our storytellers narrate in rhyme, Mary, Joseph, the Innkeeper, and a Shepherd come to life and tell their stories. Great for young and old alike, enjoy this short video with your family to hear the most important story of all - and share with friends and family! Grade https://www.smore.com/0y1rn
A Message from the Principal
Beautiful, Student-Led Chapels
We hope you have enjoyed participating in our chapel services – mostly led by our students. They gain confidence, become excited to share their message of faith, and learn to get in front of others as a valuable learning experience. All parents are invited to our chapels, Wednesdays at 8:15 am.
Continuous Enrollment and New Applications for 2022-2023
At Zion, we practice auto re-enrollment each year, so there is nothing you need to do to keep your children enrolled. If you desire to not continue, you can request a withdrawal form from Lindsey Rochner. New applications for the next school year will begin on 01 February 2022.
Chapel Seating
We love having parents attend our chapel services, to participate with us as we worship the Lord. So that the younger students can see, we would like parents to always sit in the back rows in any of the sections. Thank you for your understanding. If you desire for your child to sit with you, this can be done, but if there were a drill or actual evacuation, the child will need to be reunited with her class so that we can ensure all students are accounted for. This, of course, would be done outside.
Checking of Your Child’s Devices
For any families that have children who have devices (phones, tablets) or access to them – just a reminder to check often, even daily, just to ensure you are aware of how he/she is using it. There are many temptations, and we as parents need to set the standards high. Be aware that some students begin email or texting chains, and again – we ask that you check often to ensure appropriate use. Thank you!
Teachers/Support Staff/Radios
Those who serve on Zion staff are often seen with high-powered radios. These are to help us to be able to communicate readily with each other. We have several channels we can use. These are even brought to chapel and to other parts of the campus in case an evacuation is necessary (see above).
Lost & Found Table
We put out quite a few sweaters and jackets this week, so students could see if they had lost anything this quarter. There is still a lot left. Little ones, especially, don’t always realize when they have left something in the gym, playground, lunchroom, etc. Please do your best to place your child’s name somewhere on the clothing item. Also, if you desire to come in and check, we leave the tables out for you to check. Just call ahead and let Cari know, please.
From the Faculty and Staff of Zion Lutheran Church & School, we wish for you a happy and joy-filled Christmas. This is a time to celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. May your time in worship, and with family and friends - be blessed, by the meaning of the season.
Our promise: Our second century of developing
Christian leaders who engage and excel.
Admissons
THANK YOU to all of you who refer new families to Zion! That is the #1-way new students come to Zion. We will begin accepting new applications for the 2022-2023 school year on February 1st. If you know a family who is interested in Christian education, please have them contact Lindsey Rochner, Admissions Director at lindsey.rochner@zionwalburg.org.
During the month of January, we practice continuous, or automatic, reenrollment at Zion, which means you do not need to do anything if you are expecting your child to return for the new school year. This gives every family an opportunity to save a seat for your child. If you will not return next year, you will need to contact the school office and fill out a withdrawal form.
Please welcome our new students after Christmas break: Joaquin Cepeda in 4th grade, Salma Cepeda in 2nd grade, and Theo Hertel in kindergarten.
